This webinar explored what a good start to life means from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural perspective, recognising every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child’s right to an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander childhood. Framed within an ecological and developmental approach, the presentation examined social and emotional wellbeing and mental health across the lifecycle, from babies to children to young people. It highlights the importance of early learning, imagination, storytelling, and creativity in building identity, autonomy, and resilience.

This webinar presented updated results from a project using Mayi Kuwayu Study data to track mental health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults in the lead-up to the Voice to Parliament Referendum and the year since.
