  • The Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Declaration

    Developed in 2015, the Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Declaration is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-specific companion to the Wharerātā Declaration. It is the touchstone of Gayaa Dhuwi’s work to promote Indigenous social and emotional wellbeing, mental health and suicide prevention.

    Developed in 2010, the Wharerātā Declaration comprises five themes on the importance of Indigenous leadership in addressing the common mental health challenges faced by Indigenous peoples around the world.

    The Declaration Framework and Implementation Plan is designed to translate the principles of the Declaration into practical, impactful actions. It outlines a strategic approach to ensure that mental health services are not only accessible but culturally safe and responsive to the needs of our communities.

    The Plan is an evidence-based policy framework designed to guide policies and programmes to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health until 2023.

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention Evaluation Project

    This report summarises the work of ATSISPEP in expanding the evidence-base for what works in Indigenous community-led suicide prevention. It identifies a potential set of success factors based on a meta-evaluation of evaluated, community-led, Indigenous suicide prevention programs.
